Upon moving to the USA, Mark worked in the field of conservation specializing in fine art frames. His approach to frame conservation is unique because he utilizes his experience as a paintings conservation to reach a practical solution that benefits the frame and painting as a working unit. Mark has been in private practice after starting Bynon Art Services with his colleague, Jane Maupin Bynon in 2008. Together they have conducted conservation workshops, training sessions, condition surveys and treatments to frames and objects from institutions, private clients, local and state governments. BAS clients include: Spencer and Marlene Hays Collection, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Biltmore Estate, Tennessee State Museum and The Preservation Society of Newport County.

Mark’s career experience offers him an advantage in the area of museum exhibition and conservation consulting and management. His two year position as conservation consultant and lead for the 160 million dollar Tennessee State Museum project exemplifies his expertise for meeting tight deadlines, effectively managing staff from a range of backgrounds, collaborating with other museum professionals, and being a visionary for solutions to complex problems. A solid command of communication, collaboration and organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest industry standards make Mark an invaluable resource to project management at any phase of planning or implementation. Mark Bynon is a Professional Associate member of the AIC.

Mark is extremely well organized and methodical. He has deep comprehensive knowledge of the conservation techniques used with various media and with museum best practices relating to collections. His project management and leadership skills are very impressive. He played a pivotal role in leading and motivating Tennessee State Museum staff even though that was beyond the scope of his contract. For the Tennessee State Museum project, Mark saved the day!
